Medieval Venetians called the Greek island of Spetses the “land of perfumes,” and the Ancient Greek “Pityousa” referred to its lush pine forests. With car travel still a rarity on the island, that famous fragrance remains, and it’s fair to say it contributes to the Poseidonion Grand Hotel Spetses experience. It’s designed in an early 20th-century French Riviera style, and a recent renovation keeps its Historic Wing looking sharp while also adding a more contemporary New Wing. And in true grand-hotel style, you’ll find a small handful of restaurants, a spa and fitness center, and even a private cinema and art gallery.
