San Sebastián is a difficult spot to beat. Set in the Basque region of northern Spain, this seaside destination benefits from golden beaches and true-blue waters, but it’s also a hot spot for haute couture, high culture, and fine dining. Chef Nobu Matsuhisa is well known for his eponymous restaurant empire and for his blossoming hotel empire — here his signature dishes come with stunning water views. As do the Nobu Hotel San Sebastián’s 17 guest rooms, which combine the brand’s signature modern Japanese minimalism with contemporary-luxe comforts, local details and, in many cases, terraces looking out over the bay.
