Housed in an imposing, historic colonial building, Casa 1810 sets the tone for an idyllic stay in one of Mexico’s most charming towns. Inspired by the Alhambra fortress in Granada, Spain, rooms feature vaulted ceilings, stone parquet floors, loom-woven rugs, antique wooden headboards. And even though it’s got a popular, celebrated restaurant, the hotel achieves a romantic, quiet atmosphere. Guests can take in the sunset from the rooftop bar or enjoy a cooked-to-order breakfast in the peaceful interior courtyard. A location in the center of San Miguel de Allende means the hotel’s street is closed to cars on weekends. Many of the city’s top attractions, including the famous Parroquia de San Miguel Arcangel and San Miguel de Allende Historical Museum, are less than a 5-minute walk away.
