The laidback surf vibes of Puerto Escondido have informed the tranquil style of Casa Yuma, an adults-only boutique retreat which sits just outside the town next to Playa La Ventanilla. In fact, the beach is so close that you can hear the ocean waves from each of the minimalist guest rooms, which take their design cues from nature to smoothly blend sandy shades, pared back wood furnishings, and design details inspired by local stone, plants, and Oaxacan culture such as ceramics crafted by Mexican artists. Some come with their own private garden, and others with a rooftop terrace. Facilities include a beachside pool, a private outdoor spa cabana for massages, and restaurant Mesa Del Sol for a contemporary riff on traditional Oaxacan cuisine.
