Even among French châteaux this 15th-century castle, with its corner tower and its thousand-acre estate, is remarkably picturesque. This is Mathieu Kergourlay Hôtel de Boisgelin, an immensely characterful 14-room luxury hotel complete with its own 18-hole golf course. The interior style, courtesy of Marine Kergourlay, is contemporary and colorful, an evolution of the château’s original style rather than a reproduction. Meanwhile the rooms carry on in the same vein, though a touch more sedate, as befits their purpose; they come with with views of the interior courtyard or the golf course.
