Mykonos Ammos Hotel

In a place as pleasant as Mykonos, a hotel doesn’t need to confound expectations with some radically new form of hospitality. All it takes is a beachfront location, a keen eye for modern luxury, and a bit of tastefully forward-thinking design sense. It’s not as easy as it might sound, of course, but Mykonos Ammos is proof that it can be done — and that the result is a fine hotel indeed.

Here a series of low-slung whitewashed structures contain some 41 rooms and 9 suites, many of which look out over an orderly little beach at the waters of a sheltered bay. All of them are decorated in a soothingly minimalist monochrome style, and even the standard double rooms come with luxuries like Nespresso machines and 55-inch televisions. The suites come with extra space, naturally, both indoors and outdoors, and the most lavish of them are equipped with private hot tubs.

There’s a spa and a fitness center, as well as a fully serviced private beach club. And despite its smallish size, Mykonos Ammos is amply blessed in the restaurant department — here you’ll find an upscale Greek restaurant as well as an Italian trattoria, and with its sister hotel, the neighboring Mykonos Blanc, it shares Pasaji, a specializing in a fusion of Greek, Italian, and Asian flavors.
