Neither a straightforwardly typical Tuscan villa nor an iconoclastic experiment, Precise Tale Poggio Alla Sala is just unique enough: perfectly capable of delivering the classic experience that makes Tuscany a perennially desirable destination, but with a point of view that makes its version a particularly memorable one. It’s set amid cypress and olive groves on the rolling hills mere minutes from Montepulciano; inside, its designers took inspiration from the Silk Routes that once connected Italy to the far East, to create a style that’s local but heavily influenced by places as distant as Istanbul and Shanghai.
The rooms and suites are largely contemporary-classic in style, taking their cues from Tuscan tradition and incorporating eclectic global elements. For a slightly more historical atmosphere, opt for a room or a suite in the Villa, an 18th-century neoclassical counterpart to the hotel’s main structure. Four pools — including one adults-only and one child-friendly — keep things cool in the summertime, and a spa offers relaxation with a fittingly globe-trotting list of treatments.
