There’s no question the multi-talented Pharrell Williams is an expert on good times — as is the Miami-based restaurateur and nightclub owner David Grutman. And there’s no mistaking the mission of their Goodtime Hotel. It’s set one block back from the Collins Avenue strip, in the heart of South Beach, the setting for some of the finest nightlife in the world — and it’s not here merely to observe the scene, but to become one of its pillars.
The danger in this approach is that the Goodtime could become one of those hotels that requires earplugs and a legal waiver for anyone who actually wants to sleep. Fortunately, this is a hotel that knows when it’s time to party and when it’s time to recover. The rooms and suites are colorful and vibrant but they’re also cozy and cocoon-like, and the unflappably friendly service exhibits none of the velvet-rope attitude you might expect from a nightclub hotel.
There’s a pool deck and a beach club, as well as a spa, yoga sessions, and an inventive and well-equipped indoor-outdoor gym. And the social scene revolves around Strawberry Moon, the rooftop space that serves as a Mediterranrean restaurant, a bar, and a swim club — you can expect top-tier talent to occupy its DJ booth (as well as its private cabanas).
