Six Senses Fiji

We’ll forgive you, just this once, if you don’t bother reading this description. If you know your luxury hotels, the name Six Senses Fiji says more or less all you need to know. It’s set on a splendid, sunset-facing stretch of beach nearly half a mile long, it’s 100% solar-powered and ecologically as close to zero-footprint as can be, and like anything with the Six Senses name on it, it spares absolutely no expense when it comes to luxury.

With just 24 villas it’s not the kind of place where you can go overlooked — and that’s doubly true given the fantastically friendly and personable staff. Every villa comes with a plunge pool, a private deck for lounging or dining, and an open-air bathroom. And they’re all stylish in an understated way, with a modernist simplicity that’s pleasing to the eye but with organic, natural finishes that feel eminently suited to the place.

The Six Senses name is more or less synonymous with the brand’s spa experience, which is typically lavish here — the spa is practically a village unto itself, with offerings ranging from massages and beauty treatments to alternative medicine and holistic interventions.

As you might imagine, given its South Pacific location, the diving isn’t half bad either — here you’ll find everything from scuba and snorkeling to surfing, stand-up paddling, and kayaking, with instruction available in both surfing and diving. And on land you’ve got nature walks, challenging hikes, tennis courts, and villages to visit — safe to say you’re well placed to absorb everything that Malolo Island has to offer.
