Portals Hills Boutique Hotel isn’t just a little bit Art Deco — it’s more Miami than Miami itself, a curiously authentic contemporary interpretation of the gleaming white Streamline Moderne style that’s more or less synonymous with South Beach. And the fact that it’s in Mallorca rather than South Florida isn’t as odd as it might seem, given how much inspiration the original Miami Beach look derived from Moorish-influenced Spanish architecture in the first place.

The interior color scheme tends towards gold-on-white, in another homage to the opulence of the Jazz Age — though you wouldn’t mistake this for a period piece, thanks to the walk-in rain showers, king beds, Nespresso machines, 40-inch televisions, and JBL sound systems.
