Villa Livia
Think of islands in the Bay of Naples and you probably think of Capri, but its counterpart on the other side of the bay is Ischia, a bigger, wilder, and in some ways more spectacular island. And Villa Livia is set on what might be one of the most memorable corners of Ischia, looking across the Bay of Cartaromana at the picturesque island-bound Castello Aragonese.
You’ll have that view almost to yourself. Villa Livia contains just four rooms, each one decorated in a similar contemporary-classic style, all bright whites and cerulean blues. They’re modestly sized by luxury-hotel standards but plenty comfortable; three of them face the garden from their balconies, while a fourth looks directly out to sea.
The cozy rooms are complemented by a surplus of outdoor space, including a sprawling garden (complete with an outdoor kitchen for guest use) and an expansive terrace. It’s here that breakfast is served, and while there’s no restaurant per se, it’s possible to book a private chef for an intimate dinner. And excursions include walking tours of the Castello Aragonese as well as the chance to snorkel amidst submerged Roman ruins and bioluminescent waters.
