No 38 The Park

Just across from Pittville Park, on the north end of Cheltenham’s well-preserved Regency town center, is No.38 The Park, a Georgian townhouse that’s now home to a perfectly charming modern British boutique hotel. Modern not so much in its visual style — with its vintage-meets-contemporary décor and its impressive art collection, it’s warmer and more eclectic than that — but in the way it mixes country-house comfort with an urban boutique-hotel atmosphere and a lively restaurant and bar.

With a mere 13 rooms it’s a decidedly intimate affair, and each bedroom is different, though they’re all cut from the same luxurious cloth — Nespresso coffee machines and Bramley bath products are universal, and some feature rolltop tubs. Meanwhile, downstairs, No.38’s restaurant serves impeccably sourced and faultlessly seasonal modern British fare; outside, the whole of Cheltenham is at your feet, and the Cotswolds are within easy reach.
