The “hill” in Badia Hill understates matters somewhat. Just up the slope from the hotel stand the craggy peaks of the Dolomites, and the Ladin-speaking village of Badia/Abtei is a year-round mountain destination. Badia Hill itself is unmistakable, a modern structure clad in typically Alpine wood but otherwise a dramatic departure from the traditional mountain-lodge aesthetic.
Inside, it’s similarly stylish, putting traditional mountain materials (and colors) to use in its warmly minimalist spaces. Its 33 rooms and suites come with mountain-facing balconies, and some feature private saunas or Jacuzzis. And in its restaurants, Badia Hill combines Italian excellence with Alpine abundance, thanks to its proprietors’ background in food and wine — Porcino, the gourmet restaurant, is supplemented by the more casual Bistro Badia as well as a cocktail lounge.
