While the porticoed 18th-century building is historic, the design is hardly traditional: the look is artful and edgy, Italian Renaissance with a modern twist, featuring sultry red velvet armchairs and displays of vintage binoculars in the lobby and a neon Bea + Dante sign elevated above the bar. It’s part of the Munich-based, design-focused Ruby Hotels group, who espouse a “lean luxury” concept throughout their collection of hotels in European cities. Here, it means compact and minimalist rooms with hardwood floors, fluffy white duvets, and custom bath products.
