On a hillside overlooking the coast a few miles from San Vito Lo Capo is Baglio La Porta di San Gerardo, a 16th-century courtyard farmhouse whose rooms and suites are decorated in a surprisingly sophisticated contemporary style. It’s not quite minimalist — rustic textures of antique wood and furnishings lend a warm counterpoint — but it is attractive, and life in western Sicily is nothing if not tranquil.
