Contemporary Classic & Quiet
After decades at the very forefront of luxury hospitality, the Aman brand has begun to step out of its comfort zone. First from strictly rural modern-luxe resort enclaves to similarly exquisite urban luxury hotels; lately, with some sensitive yet thorough renovations of historical properties. Aman Rosa Alpina, for example, is an update of a 1930s mountain lodge that was already one of the Dolomites’ best-loved independent hotels. And after a transitional period as an Aman partner hotel, it’s been redesigned and refurbished, and enters the pantheon as a fully fledged Aman resort.
Architect Jean-Michel Gathy is responsible for the fruitful marriage of Alpine lodge styling and tasteful, modernist-inspired Aman-style luxury; the exterior retains a respectful chalet character, while the interiors are transformed. Natural materials like wood and stone keep the rooms and suites connected to the landscape, and the simplicity of the styling keeps them equally connected to Aman’s signature aesthetic.
San Cassiano is a highly desirable destination during ski season, and Aman Rosa Alpina makes for an extraordinary ski holiday. But this corner of the Dolomites is equally spectacular during spring, summer, and fall, offering no end of opportunity for outdoor recreation — if it can be done in the mountains, Aman Rosa Alpina can arrange it. Meanwhile the confluence of Italian cooking and Aman excellence makes for memorable dining, and the Aman Spa applies the brand’s high standards to hands-on relaxation.
