One MICHELIN Key · A very special stay
When it opened, over a decade ago now, the Dylan was among the first glimmerings of a new version of unapologetically luxe boutique hospitality. It was ahead of its time, but it hasn’t been content to rest on its laurels — after a thorough redesign by Grainne Weber Architects, the Dylan remains among the city’s most desirable addresses. The building is a classic, built in the Victorian era as a nurses’ boardinghouse, a setting with plenty of character for its new use as a luxury boutique hotel.
The redesigned lobby is anything but minimalist, clad in Italian marble and parquet wood flooring, decorated in jade and crystal and featuring custom-designed furniture by a local craftsman. And the rooms remain as elegant as ever, with Murano glass chandeliers and custom antique-style furnishings, as well as a litany of luxuries: Frette linens on Seventh Heaven beds, Handmade Soap Co. bath products, and Nespresso machines.
The Eddison is the Dylan’s new restaurant, and it’s a bright and airy affair, with a pair of terraces and an emphasis on seasonal Irish produce. Meanwhile the Ruby Room is an intimate, decadent cocktail-bar environment, perfect for a private night out, while the Nurserie, which opens onto a partially covered south-facing terrace, is a pastoral idyll, complete with tree ferns and other Victorian plants. From here it may be difficult to remember that you’re within walking distance of Dublin’s city center.
How to get there:
The Dylan is approximately a 30-minute drive from Dublin International Airport.
