Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel

Its glass-tower setting notwithstanding, Kimpton Tryon Park is as warm, welcoming, and unpretentiously stylish as any of the other Kimpton hotels. It’s set in the heart of Charlotte, North Carolina, close by to big draws like the convention center and BofA Stadium, as a part of a mixed-use development that’s bringing new life to the city’s Uptown district.

Once you’re through the doors you’re immersed in a world of vibrant color, from the large-scale artworks backing the reception desk to the metallic and jewel tones of the lobby lounge. The rooms are a bit more muted, in gray, white, and indigo, but no less visually interesting, thanks to their varied graphic patterns and material textures. And the other senses are far from neglected; of note are the Frette linens on the pillowtop mattresses and the Atelier Bloem products in the marble-clad bathrooms.

Public spaces include Angeline’s, a modern American restaurant featuring Southern ingredients and Italian-inspired flavors, as well as Merchant & Trade, the rooftop bar, which combines an upscale clientele and an elevated cocktail menu with an indoor-outdoor garden-like atmosphere and impressive views of Uptown and the surrounding city.
