At first glance Portland doesn’t seem like the sort of city that’s in need of a hotel of the Ritz-Carlton’s caliber; there’s more to this town, however, than quirky independent boutiques. And this is today’s Ritz-Carlton, not a Neoclassical edifice in white stone but the Broadway Tower, a modern glass skyscraper with spectacular views of the city, the river, and the Cascades. Expect contemporary-classic interiors, thoughtful modern luxuries, a lavish 19th-floor spa, and a restaurant that’s an upscale culinary love letter to the producers and purveyors of the Pacific Northwest.
