One of several lodges within the Shamwari Private Game Reserve, in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, Shamwari Eagles Crag distinguishes itself from its siblings with its high elevation and its commanding views, and is named for the rock at whose foot it sits, which is indeed home to the nests of eagles. The accommodations are more substantial than the tented variety, and just as luxurious as any; here the open-air deck and the elevated aerial viewing pods are the most memorable architectural features, for the way they offer a perspective on the treetops and the landscape that you won’t soon forget.
