Voco Osaka Central is the first of this design-oriented IHG sub-brand to open in Japan, and the choice of Osaka rather than Tokyo gives it a bit more of an opportunity to stand out. From the exterior it’s a perfectly handsome contemporary building, if a subtle one; inside, however, its aesthetic takes on a theatrical aspect, mixing weathered traditional materials with a modern design sense. The rooms are calmer but still striking in gray with yellow accents. And the “central” in its name is, if anything, perhaps a bit of an understatement, given the convenience of the location.
