As boutique hotels trend towards an eclectic, bohemian look, a place like TUVE stands out all the more. This is a minimalist, modernist dream, a study in concrete, stone, and metal, whose raw textures are, for a certain temperament, more welcoming than all the antiques in the world. There’s substantial luxury between these rough-edged walls — its luxe bathrooms are stocked with Le Labo products and the minibars are full of hard-to-get items. It’s hidden away in Tin Hau, in the Causeway Bay district, behind an anonymous façade, and the contrast between the busy neighborhood and the visual simplicity of its interiors is a stark one.
