Most Alpine retreats in Europe welcome guests with their traditional cozy chalet style, but the AlpenGold Hotel Davos dares to be different. The hotel’s futuristic oval gold exterior makes a striking impression sitting above Lake Davos, and while the rooms inside aren’t lined in the usual Alpine woods, they’re no less cocooning with soft shades and tactile furnishings. The modern design also means they come with floor-to-ceiling and wraparound windows to really show off the spectacular view. There’s six restaurants and bars, including the Cheese Factory, which serves traditional raclette and fondue in the untraditional setting of a glass tube on the rooftop, the vegetarian restaurant atelier VERT, and there’s the Nuts & Co Lounge Bar for casual dinner and drinks. The spa offering is equally extensive, a 1,200 m2 space in collaboration with the Swiss beauty brand Nescens, and fully kitted out with a heated indoor and outdoor pool, a gym and yoga room, saunas and steam rooms, and a collection of Spa Nescens and Alpine Spa suites if you’re looking for privacy.
