The Thompson concept may have been born in New York, but it’s adaptable — the Thompson Dallas combines the Manhattan modernist inspiration with local color that’s unmistakably Texan in nature, from leather and cowhide upholstery to local artwork and crafts. Its city-center tower location means it’s a definitively urban experience, with the views to match, and the rooms are packed with thoughtful details like minibars stocked with Texan-made products and D.S. & Durga products in the bathrooms. There’s a capacious spa on the ninth floor, and the restaurants include a modern Italian eatery by a Michelin-starred chef.
