Just off the Tivoli Gardens (and the rail station) in central Copenhagen is a modern grand hotel hidden behind a century-old façade. Villa Copenhagen is a substantial addition to the local hotel scene, transforming the old postal service headquarters into a 390-room luxury hotel that combines the twin currents of real Scandinavian design: warm, classic coziness and crisp, clean-lined modernism. In true contemporary style it’s also a social nexus, featuring a beautiful atrium bar, a stylish brasserie called Kontrast, a bakery, Rug, showcasing the pastries and baked goods that are the Danish culinary tradition’s underappreciated strength, and, to top it all off, a very rare rooftop pool.
