The name means “legacy” in Arabic, a nod to the story behind this waterfront compound on the edge of Abu Dhabi. Once a recreational center for UAE Armed Forces officers, the sprawling property on the Arabian Gulf was recently reimagined as ERTH Abu Dhabi Hotel. The old officers’ playground got a few upgrades, from the FIFA-certified soccer pitch, Blue Flag–certified private beach, and oasis-style pools to six restaurants and hundreds of sleek rooms, suites, and villas. But it’s the traditional Emirati features — a mosque, an Arabic-style café and patisserie, and the lovely Al Fayy Garden — that set ERTH apart from the city's standard luxury hotels.
