It’s a long way, both literally and figuratively, from the brand’s urban luxury-hotel beginnings to the JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge. This is a proper safari camp, tents and all, right on the Talek River in the Masai Mara National Reserve. The suites, in luxury-camp tradition, stretch the definition of tents almost to the limit — beneath these canvas rooms you’ll find lavish en-suite bathrooms with indoor-outdoor showers and, on your private deck, a jacuzzi. The camp’s open-air restaurant and lounge are the social center of the hotel, and a spa awaits at the end of a long day on safari.
