Kent Pond, in Killington, Vermont is a picture-perfect warm-weather destination, just steps from the Appalachian Trail, and the nearby Killington K1 gondola makes Mountain Meadows Lodge a smart option for ski season as well. The style is modern-rustic, and considerably more stylish than the average New England mountain lodge — here an 180-year-old farmhouse and cow barn provide the raw material for a contemporary, boutique-style hotel. The lodge’s “country breakfast” is a robust one, and later in the day it’s joined by the Kent Bistro & Bar, serving a menu crafted from locally sourced ingredients.
