This tropical-modernist marvel avoids the easy clichés of island design, evoking maximum atmosphere from the textures of concrete and wood. Its suites are strung along a lagoon-like pool, creating almost a floating-villa effect; the Royal Spa is as dramatic as they come, and three restaurants and three bars serve locally sourced Mediterranean cuisine in a variety of environments, from the very casual poolside Cocoon to the double-height Omikron with its far-ranging views.
