Just south of the city of Athens lies the Athens Riviera, a stretch of coastal idyll that’s returning to favor among Greek travelers as the islands grow ever more heavily traveled. One look at the Roc Club and you’ll wonder why anyone ever left the mainland. The coastal seascape is spectacular, as is nearby Astir Beach, and Lake Vouliagmeni, with its therapeutic thermal waters, is just a few minutes’ walk to the south.

Nor are the surroundings the only reason to visit. The Roc Club itself is a stylish, sunny, modernist-inspired hotel, a thorough reimagining of an existing mid-century property. The rooms and suites are tastefully luxurious, and the sparse lightness of their decoration lets the views speak for themselves. An outdoor pool feels more private than the nearby beaches and lake, and is served by a poolside bar; more formal meals are served at the Roc Veranda and the flagship Rocket Restaurant.
