Picture a wooden ski lodge in the heart of Switzerland’s 4 Vallées ski area — the kind of place that’s both grand and cozy, both rustic and contemporary. That’s La Cordée des Alpes, a high-altitude boutique hotel which puts a modern twist on the classic alpine lodge, from rooms dressed in fashionable neutral hues and colorful accessories, to the stone and wood apartments which come with more traditional beamed ceilings and crackling fires. All room categories also come with a private timber balcony facing the snowy mountains. Spa by La Cordée is just the tonic for some après-ski relaxation, and the large indoor pool comes with views of the valley. In the evenings, there’s a bar for enjoying cocktail hour before heading to Restaurant La Cordée for local Swiss specialties, and in winter, Rōpu Sushi Bar pops up in the hotel’s lounge to bring a taste of Japan to Verbier.
