Bellport Inn

Straight across Bellport Bay from the east end of Fire Island, 65 miles from Manhattan, is Bellport Village, a charming seaside town that’s home to — perhaps a theme is becoming apparent — the Bellport Inn. This lovely little estate is, in some ways, both a hotel and a vacation rental; in July and August the Main House, the adjoining Garden Suite, and the detached Cottage are each rented in their entirety, while during the rest of the year the Main House’s rooms are available individually.

In any permutation, the units are stylish, bright and bold, with an antique vibe enlivened by a contemporary sensibility, and comforts that you’ll recognize from your boutique-hotel travels. The outdoor spaces are a large part of the Inn’s appeal, from the main patio to the various gardens and lawns, furnished with fire pits and sun loungers.

Self-serve snacks are available, as is a selection of beers, wines, and spirits, all from local makers. There are bikes available to explore the town, and one of the best things about Bellport Village is actually a brief ferry ride across the sound — Ho Hum Beach, on Fire Island, is a gem, and is jealously guarded by Bellport residents during the height of the summer season.
