If you like the thrill of an undiscovered destination, or a bit of the old Robinson Crusoe spirit, then you’re probably not even reading this. But if you’re looking for the apex of professionalized high-end luxury hospitality, then you’ve clicked on precisely the right link. Sharm El Sheikh, the mega-resort on the Egyptian Red Sea, is not exactly uncharted territory — what it is is home to some fantastically luxurious hotels, and the Four Seasons Sharm El Sheikh is quite possibly the most luxurious among them.
Though a contemporary construction it’s absolutely classic in style — rather than futuristic Dubai-style bling it’s almost ostentatiously traditional, if that makes any sense. The “worst” rooms in the place come with private terraces and massive marble baths, and the best ones almost defy description — if you’re friends with any billionaires or heads of state you can ask them to have you over for a peek.
This place is all about scale and proportion. Its capacity is between 700 - 900 guests, it’s staffed and serviced as such. Hence a certain atmosphere of intimacy, even as a veritable army of staffers keeps the proceedings tidy and quick. The diving and snorkeling are first-rate, the dining lavishly upscale, and the concierge is a miracle worker. As with so many Four Seasons properties, once you’ve said the name, you’ve more or less implied everything there is to know about the place.
