Hotel Tofana, in San Cassiano, is somewhere in the middle: an energetically stylized version of Alpine lodge life, with interiors that are the very picture of modern mountain luxury in blond wood and cloud-white linens; rooms are clean-lined but never cold. Design aside, the main attraction here is the setting, with all the skiing, hiking, cycling and adventuring anyone could ask for; and it doesn’t hurt that the local cuisine combines Alpine abundance with a typically Italian reverence for impeccably sourced ingredients and flavors.
