Even Driftwood’s name is relaxing, setting a tranquil tone for this low-key boutique hotel on the Cornish coast, not far from Truro. It’s set on seven acres, with its own quiet beach, and its 14 rooms are seaside chill par excellence, all neutral tones and warm organic textures — as is the so-called Rustic Cabin, set a short walk away down a secluded path. It’s a family-owned and -operated hotel, with all the personable charm that that implies. Driftwood’s restaurant has long been highly regarded, and chef Olly Pierpont and his team deliver a refined menu based on the freshest local seafood and produce.
