Not far from the tombs of Emperor Humayun, the statesman Safdarjung, and the estates of present-day government officials, the luxurious Lodhi is an imposing presence in Lutyens’ Delhi. The Lodhi’s façade is stately enough for India’s capital city, but the impression is softened once you’re inside the lush rooms. Suites on higher floors include private balconies with plunge pools, and in addition to a salon, spa and gym, there’s a striking courtyard pool, complete with a poolside cafe offering Thai specialties and cocktails. At the Elan restaurant, almost the entirety of the globe is represented by the menu, while Perbacco focuses on Italian, solely. For sipping, two bars, the Electric Room and the Safari Lounge, offer spaces to gear up or wind down.
