The California wine country’s culinary capital, St. Helena, is the setting for the Napa Valley installment of the Indonesian-born, Hyatt-owned Alila brand. Here the Alila hotels’ signature modernist look is softened by some Californian Arts & Crafts influence, and its rooms look out not over some far-flung beach but over the vineyards of the Beringer Estate Winery. Alila Napa Valley features one of the brand’s typically lavish spas, as well as a restaurant, Acacia House, that’s set in its own Georgian-style farmhouse, a stark contrast with the contemporary style of the hotel’s other structures.
