The idyllic Menorcan countryside is the setting for Alcaufar Vell, a medieval fortification that found a second life as a stately Neoclassical villa, and now a third life as a small and luxurious rural boutique hotel. 21 rooms occupy the old house and its refurbished stables, and the latter structure is also home to the hotel’s restaurant, a single kitchen serving everything from a rustic-luxe breakfast to an impeccably composed dinner in the garden, under the stars. The beach at Cala Alcaufar is close by, and the estate is perfectly positioned for exploration on foot or by bicycle.
