There’s no neighborhood in Medellín that’s anywhere near as hip as El Poblado, and along with the fashion boutiques, restaurants, and nightspots there’s been an explosion of highly individual boutique hotels — among them the ultra-modern industrial-chic Somos Hotel, the result of a collaboration between some of the city’s top creative professionals. The distinctive building is oriented inside-out, with the stairwells outside along the façade, to allow more interior space for the loft-style rooms. And Mosquito, the hotel’s restaurant and bar, is split in two: the Mosquito Social Basement and the self-explanatory Mosquito Rooftop.
