At this point in boutique-hotel history, there’s a limit to how thrilling another New York or London hotel can be. Not so in Kansas City, Missouri, where a new boutique hotel is big news indeed. The Fontaine takes its stylistic cues from Renaissance Venice, which would be enough, on its own, to set it apart from the ordinary business hotels with which it shares its hometown. Parker, the rooftop restaurant, has impressive views of the surrounding city, and the bar is an upscale cocktail venue with a terrace by the poolside. And the Solarium Lounge serves breakfast in a soaring, sunny space, the perfect place to start the day.
