Though it occupies a rather monumental Neoclassical building facing the Place des Martyrs, Juliana Hotel Brussels is residential in its scale and its atmosphere. This is a luxury boutique hotel, with equal emphasis on boutique and luxury — its spaces are generous and its comforts are high-end, and the design is nothing if not memorable. There’s art everywhere, both in the public spaces and in the rooms, where classic architectural gestures like mansard roofs and timbered ceilings are complemented by murals and modern design flourishes. The spa, with its indoor pool, is another inspired space, as are the swanky restaurant and the dramatically low-lit bar.
