Housed in the former Bordeaux Institute of Zoology, from which it takes its name, La Zoologie doubles down on its natural sciences beginnings with interiors inspired by biology, flora and fauna. The 40 guest rooms are split across three wings, named Geology, Zoology and Botanic, and blend a mix of Bordeaux stone and clay walls, original brickwork and half moon windows with natural, earthy shades and wallpapers depicting a mix of animals, verdant forests and maritime scenes. The wellness area offers massages with made in France products, a Jacuzzi, hammam, sauna, and an outdoor terrace shaded by leafy palms, although relaxation time comes at an extra charge for guests booking into a Classic room. Bistronomic restaurant La Zoologie serves a seasonal menu focused on market produce, a team of mixologists shake up the hotel’s signature cocktails in the bar, and in summer, the rooftop terrace opens with panoramic views of Bordeaux.
