Jordan’s only port city has a lot going for it, perhaps its beautiful coastline first and foremost. Aqaba sits on a peaceful gulf of the same name, an inlet of the Red Sea, with miles of beaches facing an expanse of crystal-clear water and offshore coral reefs. The Westin Saraya Aqaba Resort & Spa sits right near the shore, backing up against the Saraya Lagoon on the other side. It’s quite a location, and the hotel’s design makes the most of it with several waterfront pools and open-air dining spaces.

Rooms have great views, too: each has a private balcony overlooking the mountains or the lagoon. The look is fresh and modern, with earth tones and deep blue accents mirroring the landscapes outside, and suites are particularly grand with wood-paneled living rooms and high arching windows. The spa, fitness center, and kids club are all standard for the Westin brand, but the private beach club, with its umbrellas and chaise longues lined up on the white-sand shore of the lagoon, is one-of-a-kind.
