Once home to the long-running Hotel Brouwer, The Craftsmen isn’t your typical canal-side stay. Housed in a 17th-century townhouse overlooking Amsterdam’s Singel, this spirited boutique hotel is where Dutch artistry takes center stage. Each of its 14 rooms honors a historic trade, from cartographers to shoemakers, all with upcycled antiques and bespoke pieces. Expect vintage tools turned into light fixtures, penny-farthings in bathrooms, and airplane doors repurposed as wardrobes. It’s wildly inventive, warmly personal, and still carries the soul of a family-run inn, albeit with a lot more imagination.
