Yanagawa's Ohana spans a 23,000-square-meter estate, Japan's only National Place of Scenic Beauty where guests can stay overnight. Built during the Edo period as a feudal lord's retreat, the property became a count's residence in the Meiji era before converting to a traditional inn in 1950. A recent renovation updated all rooms while preserving original Tachibana family textiles, ceramics, and architectural details. Kaiseki dinners are served in former family quarters overlooking Shoto-en Garden, paired with sake and finished with Yanagawa's signature steamed eel. The 100-tatami-mat hall catches morning light, while guest rooms feature cypress soaking tubs.
