There are around 300 chateaux in the Loire Valley, and the Auberge de la Caillère sits by six of them, including the largest, and probably the most famous, the Château de Chambord, which is just a half hour drive away. The hotel’s location in the Loire countryside also means it’s surrounded by lush forest views that can be enjoyed from each of the 30 rooms and suites, which are split across a modern contemporary building and a historic stone 18th century property. The Caillère Bistro serves classic French dishes with a verdant view of the woodland from the outdoor terrace, and on colder evenings there’s a lounge bar for a cozy drink by the fire.
