For its first hotel in the Portuguese countryside, Maison Albar opted for clean lines over traditional ceramic tiles, tapping the innovative Lisbon-based firm Domus Concept to design a modern retreat an hour’s drive north of Porto. The result is Amoure, a smart-looking boutique hotel set amid beautifully landscaped gardens near the village of Moure. Rooms are spacious and elegantly appointed with coffered walls, recessed lighting, Art Deco–inspired furnishings, and lavish marble-lined bathrooms. French doors open onto private terraces with views of the surrounding scenery or the outdoor pool framed by striped umbrellas, and suites feature separate seating areas and freestanding soaking tubs. Highlights include a farm-to-table bistro, a stylish cocktail lounge, and a spa with a hammam and indoor pool.
