The Fife Arms is located not in Fife but in Braemar, deep in the Scottish highlands. And while its name is a remnant of its past as a Victorian-era coaching inn, inside it’s much more than a trip back in time. It’s the passion project of the Swiss gallerists Manuela and Iwan Wirth, and is correspondingly filled with extremely impressive artworks. The rooms and suites vary in size but are quite uniformly luxurious and ornately decorated — only in the spa will you find anything approaching minimalism. Multiple dining and drinking venues include the dazzling Clunie Dining Room and the impressively well-supplied Bertie’s Whisky Bar.
