One MICHELIN Key · A very special stay
Set in a verdant riverside location in western Kyoto, at the foot of the Arashiyama Mountains, with a commanding view of the Togetsukyo Bridge, Muni Kyoto hardly feels like a city hotel at all. Where you might expect a very traditional ryokan you instead find a very contemporary luxury boutique hotel, one that’s decked out in the gray and cream tones (and B&B Italia furnishings) you’d expect from a place like Milan. All the same, the experience is perfectly in keeping with rural Japanese hospitality tradition, from the luxe and elegant rooms to the exceedingly tranquil spa and a pair of fine restaurants — unusually, they’re both by Alain Ducasse.
