1864 The Sea Captain's House
First of all, even on Santorini, there are locations, and then there are locations. Oia, at the top of the inner crescent, is probably the island’s most picturesque town, its terraced residences cascading precipitously down the cliffside. The Sea Captain’s House joins them — with just four suites (and no reception or other common space), it’s scarcely a hotel at all, presenting what’s essentially an idealized, luxe version of Oian village life.
That means jacuzzis in every suite, for one, and an approach to decorating that goes beyond the stripped-down Greek-island norm — there are hints of the baroque in these bedrooms, with their antique woodwork and gilded mirrors. It’s all in the name of character, though, rather than pure flash; the scale of the place prevents it ever feeling over-opulent.
Please note: 1864 The Sea Captain's House is a seasonal hotel open March thru mid-December.
How to get there:
Santorini (Thira) can be easily reached by plane or ferry. Flight time from Athens is approximately 45 minutes. Ferries from Athens' Pireaus port to Thira take approximately 6-7 hours.

The hotel is situated in the midst of everything in Oia, but somehow feels so private and secluded from it all. The views cannot be beat, you’ll see tourists left and right waiting to have their photos taken directly outside of your room that’s how amazing the views truly are. Our favourite part of the hotel was the history of the property, which was one of four structures to survive an earthquake in the 50s. It genuinely feels like you’re sleeping in a museum. Highly recommend staying here - room size is great, views are wonderful, and staff are amazing.

This place is heavenly. It has, hands down, the perfect location in the best town in one of the most beautiful places on the planet. Takis, the manager, is really knowledgable and gives great recommendations. Honestly this place was worth it just for the breakfast and view along.

Takis and his team have been outstanding at making our holiday one of the best we ever had! The location was perfect, the room combined with the terrace and its view amazing!

Loved the location in Oia with its million dollar views! The morning breakfast provided on the terrace is especially lovely. This is a small property with only four rooms and you are treated with an exceptionally personal touch. You're in for a treat and will feel like royalty when your luggage arrives courtesy of a donkey (in traditional dress) escort and is unloaded in your room by an attendant.
